  Lead the CFD and phantom validation stream: patient-specific solves, waveform modelling, and closing the loop between simulation and image-derived stasis.

  You will own the simulation side of the flagship carotid stasis project. That means building patient-specific meshes from segmented CTA geometry, running and validating solves, and designing the phantom experiments that establish ground truth for the imaging measurement.

  What we are looking for: a PhD in mechanical/biomedical engineering, medical physics, applied mathematics or similar; demonstrated CFD experience; and a willingness to be told by a clinician that a beautiful result is clinically meaningless.

  Co-supervised between the lab and computer science. You will work on carotid bifurcation segmentation, cross-subject registration, and automated detection of webs, plaque and intraluminal thrombus, with an unusual emphasis on test-retest reliability rather than benchmark leaderboards.

  Funding available for strong candidates. Prior medical imaging experience is not required.
